IScO Newsletter March 2025 |
|
Dear Reader,
Since January 2024 I, Léa, have been helping to create the newsletter and was part of the IScO team. As I am now finishing my studies, I will unfortunately leave the KIT. I would like to thank you dear readers. I had a lot of fun creating the newsletter for you and getting to know some of you on the excursions! At this point I would like to introduce our new colleague Jessica Weigelmann who joined the team in March and will take over my tasks.
March is here, ushering in the fresh beginnings of the spring season. Therefore, on March 30th, we transition to summer time in Germany. The clocks will move forward one hour at 2:00 AM, shifting to 3:00 AM.
One highlight is our visit to the Karlsruhe Zoo, where we’ll meet the fascinating polar bears. Another exciting excursion will take us to the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, where we’ll dive into Swabian art. If you're interested in joining us, be sure to sign up for the excursion in the newsletter below!
Find all the details about upcoming events, activities, and more in this newsletter.
Stay curious and take care!

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) continues to support researchers who have fled their home countries. The aim is to enable their short-term integration into the German research system so that they can continue their academic work.
Doctoral researchers who have been forced to leave their home country within the last three years can apply for a Walter Benjamin Fellowship to carry out their own research project. Funding in this program offers the opportunity to gain experience at an academic institution in Germany by independently supervising a research project, which forms the necessary basis for the next steps in establishing themselves in the German academic system. There is also individual career support from the host institution and integration into ongoing projects in various DFG funding programs.
The DFG is extending the Special Program Ukraine until further notice. Through this funding opportunity, Ukrainian researchers (project leaders) who are in Ukraine and whose research is still possible can receive special support. You can find more information on the Special Program Ukraine here.
